One of the most exciting elements of contemporary digital production is a culture-economy of low-cost/hi quality adaptations and lateral thinking. At he heart of that has been over the past 5 years the explosion in 35mm lens adapters for digital video cameras

Systems such as the RedRock MicroM2 allow a low-cost hand-held camera to become a cinematic tool infinitely more profound. On the upcoming shoots a number of you will be working with the RedRock and so i thought it worth posting these two videos from HDFilmTools that go through in some detail the mechanics of the MicroM2 along with techniques and considerations for working with the M2.

Part 1 takes us through each component of the product and talks about some precautions that should be taken into consideration when shooting with the Red Rock M2.

Part 2 demonstrates how to assemble the adapter (they use a Panaosonic HVX but the process is much the same as a Sony Z1) and goes on to show us how to adjust and calibrate.
