Export Settings for In-House Screenings and Archive
May 6, 2008Here below are the step by step settings and processes for exporting your films to be screened in-house from both FCP and Premier Pro. These export settings will produce a full resolution compressed delivery version of your film to be played directly from the computer. The file will be small and and managable but still excellent viewing quality, comparable to DVD.
Certainly you are welcome to also show your film from DVD if you wish to author a DVD disc with menu but this is not nessasary for in-house viewing.
Certainly you should NOT be playing back your Master (ProRes or Component YUV) for screening. These formats are not designed for delivery and cause stuttering or other playback problems.
Carefully follow the steps through below and you cant go wrong; just bring that file to the upstairs theatre computer on your memory stick, copy to desktop and your ready to present your work.
You will also be required to submit the exported movie file below to go into the IFSS student archive. After screening the files should be brought on memory stick to MIKE or KATRINA to be added to the server archive.
A word of warning – H.264/AVC exports can take a much longer period of time to render than other formats because of the complex form of compression – even more so if you’ve used complex effects or Magic Bullet. Be sure to leave yourself enough time to export.
DO NOT delude yourself into thinking you can do the H.264 render the Morning BEFORE the screening. Do it the NIGHT before. Take professional responsibility for your workflow process and manage it correctly and diligently.
Any questions, comments or concerns see Mike.
